The Australian Centre for Healthcare Governance (ACHG) will provide the healthcare sector with:
-
Knowledge of the process of healthcare governance
-
Guidance and support to build individual and group knowledge to ensure that healthcare organisations can meet their significant governance responsibilities
-
A range of opportunities for individual and groups to participate in governance forums and networks
The ACHG is being established at a time when all states transition to Local Hospital Networks and Primary Health Care Organisations as a result of the National Health and Hospitals Network (NHHN) Agreement.
The reforms agreed through the National Health and Hospitals Network (NHHN) Agreement require the creation of skills based, governing bodies, to determine the service needs and priorities of local communities.
In establishing the ACHG, the VHA intends to share Victoria's healthcare governance experience across Australia. The ACHG will play a major role in enabling the successful implementation of the governance structures foreshadowed in the National Health and Hospitals Network (NHHN) Agreement.
Through our association with the VHA, the ACHG has access to established communication channels, a strong corporate identity, existing and proposed healthcare governance research, and significant knowledge of successful health system governance structures and processes.
Access to this intellectual property will assist directors of healthcare governing bodies to fulfil their director responsibilities. The Australian Centre for Healthcare Governance can help you to:
